The Beginning I’ve had many amazing opportunities to learn so much about the fashion business and develop my selling chops over the last 15 years. It seems like only yesterday (1999!) that I moved to NYC and learned that someone would actually pay me to style and select their clothing! I proceeded as a wardrobe stylist for a number of break through icons and corporate clients such as MTV, Nickelodeon, and Fuse Network. Just a few years later, I dove headfirst into creating, designing and launching fury, a cold weather accessories line that I sold into all the majors…Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Henri Bendel, INTERMIX and Bloomingdales. I learned anything and everything I could about importing, manufacturing overseas, marketing, logistics and EDI systems, partnering with buyers, collaborating with merchandising teams, hiring sales reps and attending trade shows. I was overjoyed to receive editorial credits in Vogue, Elle, Glamour and US Weekly. Celebrities were photographed wearing my collection and it was a special thrill when Patricia Fields selected one of my scarves for SJP to wear on “Sex and the City”. Fashion to Home The perils of running a seasonal business became apparent after several successful years, and I decided to wind my business down. Good timing because I soon found out I was pregnant with our first daughter Elie Sloan. For fun, I started selling part time for Jonathan Adler and after the baby was born I returned to HQ and launched a new sales department: Hospitality and Corporate Gifting. Jonathan Adler was amazing to me and gave me a customized ‘working Mom’ schedule. I went on to create the department and expand the market for JA’s unique style of accessories in elite hotels and resorts. I'm forever grateful to him and his team for my time there. In 2011, John Robshaw Textiles called and I became the brand’s National Director of Sales. During my tenure, I grew sales over 300%, launching the JR by John Robshaw brand nationally at Bloomingdales and opening accounts like Saks Fifth Avenue, Casa, while managing their 24 road reps and regional showrooms. During this time I grew their elite accounts including ABC Carpet & Home and Barney’s New York, developed licensing and partnership agreements....and most exciting, had our second daughter Farah. As a true Type A, my next logical step was to combine all my skill sets and experience and create EFL Sales, my own rep firm close to my home in Brooklyn with a primary focus of serving specialty stores in the Northeast. If you're a brand or buyer or fashion lover, I hope you will contact my team! Sincerely, Dana
